This is by far, my favorite topic because I LOVE smoothies. Smoothie recipes must be the one and only healthy recipes which are liked by adults and kids alike. Smoothie rare a relatively new concept but, for the benefit of those of you who have been asleep for the last decade or so, a smoothie is a blend of fruit with milk, yoghurt, ice cream or crushed ice… utterly delicious, if I may say so myself!

The Healthy Drink Which Tastes So So Good

Fruit is, as a general rule, healthy and features in every single healthy eating plan. In addition, the health benefits of fruit are pushed with the 5 a day plan where it is recommended that all individuals eat five or more portion of fruits and vegetables on a daily basis. A smoothie can actually count for two portions with regards to the 5 a day plan, depending on its actual ingredients. In addition, some individuals choose to enhance the health benefits of smoothies by adding soy milk, green tea, health and other nutritional supplements.

Smoothies have been marketed as an alternative to our obsession with drinking coffee, and have increased in popularity in recent years. They are now widely and readily available in coffee shops and on the supermarket shelves. In addition, a million and one juice bars have popped up all over the world to meet the growing trend for smoothie recipes.

We as individuals have embraced the concept of smoothies so much that we are now trying the following recipes at home ourselves, which in itself tells you just how popular smoothie recipes actually are! For those of you who wish to try out a recipe for yourself, here are my favorites:

1 Strawberry and Banana Smoothie: A Firm Favorite With Adults and Kids Alike

Ingredients: Banana, strawberries, low fat yoghurt and milk. Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.

2 Pineapple and Mango Smoothie: A Taste of the Tropics

Ingredients: Banana, mango, pineapple juice, low fat yoghurt and milk. You can also include cream of coconut if you so desire. Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.

3 Papaya Smoothie: The Wow Factor

Ingredients: Banana, papaya, pineapple juice, milk, ice cubes, honey and lime juice. Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.

4 Raspberry and Blueberry Smoothie: Berry Smooth

Ingredients: Raspberries, blueberries, low fat yoghurt and ice cubes. Put all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.

Make It Part of Your Breakfast Routine

Individuals making smoothies at home will generally opt for them as part of their breakfast routine, or at lunchtime if in a hurry. However, smoothies are so fabulous they can be enjoyed at any time of the day! It is also worthy of note that frozen fruits can also be used in smoothie recipes, enabling you to sample the healthy delights even when your fruit bowl is empty!
